Not that I got a huge break this weekend. Worked a full day in the office on Saturday and then a frustrating partial day on Sunday working (well mostly just talking on the phone) on stuff that's entirely not my responsibility. But, back at it today and my sweet view of the elevator shaft.
Saturday pretty much blew for obvious reasons.
Sunday am turned out to be somewhat productive. I once again followed my dad around in the yard and handed him tools (much like I did when I was about 5) while he dug up, repaired or replaced the remainder of the abosultely broken or barely working sprinkler heads in our yard. I think we messed with about 20 in all. Yes, that's basically everyone one of them. The remainder need to be repaired or dug up and leveled but, my dad doesn't have the stamina he used to and wore out pretty quick. I'll try to get to the remainder once I am in one piece again. I clocked one run of the sprinklers running for 10min per zone on the water meter. The result was about 1200 gallons of water! That's probably going to result in $10-$15 per run. Yeah. We probably won't have a lawn resembling a golf course anytime soon. After a few hours of phone calls for work, the pm was filled with BBQ at the neighbors and then fireworks at night. Even though we chose to drive since I am all gimped out, turns out that the show is pretty much in walking distance from our house.
Yesterday am was spent, once again, following my dad around while he trimmed bushes at our house. I was pretty happy that I was able to start the blower on my own and actually help. Yeah, the little things. We spent the afternoon with the family at my Aunt and Uncle's. Way too much good food and a few hours on my Aunt & Uncle's giant inflatable water slide for the kids. Turned out to be a pretty nice day.
GLR is taking more turns for the worst. We lost yet another from our team Sunday. So, we are back to 9 runners. If I can even be counted. Even though my arm is pretty much useless, my shoulder was feeling pretty good yesterday am. I was actually pretty optimistic I'd make some good strides towards recovery this week. I have managed to will myself back on the trainer the last couple of days and since I never got around to putting a computer on my cx bike, I was using my phone to keep time. About 50 minutes into it, I took a peek, my phone slipped out of my right hand and the left instinctively reached for it. I heard "pop" and then lots of pain. Apparently, my screams could could be heard rather clearly upstairs. Even over the TV blaring. Now my collar bone once again clicks when I walk and certainly is not feeling anywhere near as good as it was late last week. Regardless, I've pretty much put my mind to it that I am going to attempt running this Saturday. No matter how good or bad my shoulder feels. Our most recent runner to drop was going to be the guy I expected to pick up any legs I had to pass on over the weekend. Looking at the remainder of the roster, I am probably going to have to run all my legs. Which will be anywhere from 24-30 miles over the 3 days, on uneven terrain, in 80-90 degree heat, dehydrated and sleep deprived. Normally, not a big deal. Right now. Pretty nerve racking.
Glad this is a short work week. The best Monday's are the ones that fall on Tues.
